Where’s My Robot Foundation Model?
Abstract: Foundation models are all the rage in AI these days: large language models, vision-language models, x-anything, etc. Foundation models offer end users the ability to take models trained from large scale data sources and customize them to their needs. Why don’t we have a foundation model for robotics? This talk will examine some of the challenges in defining and creating foundation models for robot manipulation. We’ll then show examples of ongoing work to incorporate existing vision and language foundation models within robotic planning and learning systems.
