A student majoring in computer science must complete six CS courses at the 3000 level or above (each 3.0 credits or more). The following courses are excluded:
- CS 3090: Ethics in Computing*
- CS 3390: Ethics in Data Science*
- CS 3991: CE Junior Seminar
- CS 3992: Computer Engineering Pre-Thesis/Pre-Clinic/Pre-Project
- CS 4710: Computer Engineering Senior Project
- CS 4991: Computer Engineering Senior Thesis I
- CS 4992: Computer Engineering Senior Thesis II
*One of CS 2395: Ethics in AI, CS 3090, or CS 3390 must be completed to satisfy the ethics requirement.
A student who completes both CS 3100: Models of Computation and CS 3200: Introduction to Scientific Computing and Data Computing may use one course to satisfy the theory-restricted elective requirement and the other course as a CS elective.
Graduate-level CS courses numbered 6XXX may be used as CS electives. Instructor permission is required for enrollment. A student should confirm with an academic advisor that graduate coursework applies correctly to their degree audit.
A student majoring in computer science must also choose one math, science, or engineering course (3.0 credits or more) that has MATH 1220 as a co- or prerequisite. The following courses are excluded:
- CS or DS courses
- MATH 3010: Topics in the History of Mathematics
- MATH 3070: Applied Statistics I and/or MATH 5010: Introduction to Probability, if CS 3130 is taken
- MATH 2250: Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, if MATH 2270: Linear Algebra and/or MATH 2280: Introduction to Differential Equations are taken
