Here's what I did:
[358] mv TPTest-default-debug.ref TPTest-default-debug.ref.original
[359] mv TPTest-default-debug.ref.failure TPTest-default-debug.ref

This got past both problems - I can see why the first problem was removed,
but not the latter.  (Shrug.)  However, now the tests are hanging later on:

...and the session appears to be hung (so far for about an hour as I did
other things).   The logfile shows that the first four succeeded but has
nothing about the Ping test.

"Normal" networking is okay on the machine (I'm accessing it via SSH as it
is), so it's not a misconfigured NIC.
