Facilitating the Design of Human-Centered Just-in-Time Adaptive Intervantions (JITAIs)

Facilitating the Design of Human-Centered Just-in-Time Adaptive Intervantions (JITAIs) This project explores how interdisciplinary researchers might work together to design more human-centered just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs). An in-depth observation of the literature reveals that current implementations of JITAIs do not account for the diverse life factors of the users and the impact of those factors on how users engage with these systems. My research focuses on supporting this aspect of desiging JITAIs.
As a part of this project, I have conducted iterative studies with focus groups and semi-structured interviews to understand user experiences with self-tracking systems. I have written first-authored article on a systematic review of 120 JITAI to understand the gap in research and JITAI design practices. I have also published first-authored articles detailing the users' perceptions and practices with self-tracking.

Improving the User-Experience of CloudLab

Image
This NSF-funded project focuses on the experience of CloudLab users (researchers, engineers) and explores how we might design better user experiences.
As a research assistant on this project, I have conducted contextual inquiry to understand the users' (engineers and researchers) experiences with a cloud computing platform deployed by an NSF-funded research project. I am currently conducting a thematic analysis on the contextual inquiry data to understand the reproducibility of research artifacts as well as improve user experiences.

Designing JITAI to support the psychological well-being of healthcare providers

This project was conducted during the global pandemic of COVID-19 with a goal of supporting the psychological well-being of frontline healthcare providers.
As a only research assistant on this project, I designed and conducted a self-tracking intervention study and semi-structured interviews to understand user's perceptions about a potential JITAI. I have published a first-authored article detailing the unique challenges that a JITAI targeted for frontline service providers may face.

Improving Experience of Spinal Cord Injury Patients in Smart Rehabilitation Hospital

Image
This project was a retrospective analysis of our experience of working with people with spinal cord injury accross three projects for about five years.
In this work, I analysed our own experiences of conducting HCI research with patients with spinal cord injury across multiple projects at a large rehabilitation hospital. I have published first-authored article on our synthesis along with a call for new research methods for inclusive research design.

Improving Time-Management Practices of Users

I collaborated on this project to support another research assistant in our lab. This project focuses on understanding time-management practices of knowledge workers and designing systems to support better time-management practices.
In this project, I helped another research assistant in conducting semi-structured interviews to collect data on users' experience with a novel time-management tool. I also assisted in analyzing and publishing the study results in peer-reviewed venue.
