Beginning with a problem statement, the two steps of devising a mathematical
model and identifying a computational method are often quite involved. The
problem at hand is so simple, however, that the model and method discussed in
the last section are quite sufficient, so we can proceed directly to
implementation. We need to use Maple to calculate the earth's surface area and
divide by its population.
