Biographies
Paul Avery
Dr. Paul Avery is Professor of Physics. He received his Ph.D in Physics
from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and has taught at
UF since 1985. He is Director of the NSF supported GriPhyN Project and
International Virtual Data Grid Laboratory. Prof. Avery taught
PHY3400 (Light, Color and Holography) for five semesters and is
fascinated by
the mechanism of visual perception.
Geoff Wilson
Geoff Wilson started 352 Media Group, formerly Silverscape Technologies, while a student at the University of Florida in 1997. Geoff designed Web sites around his class schedule and had a 1-800 number run into his dorm room to take business calls. Upon graduation, Geoff aggressively expanded the company and started attracting national accounts. Today 352 Media Group has 45 employees in Gainesville and more than 500 clients around the world. Over the past two years, 352 Media Group has developed Web sites for several large corporations, including Pizza Hut, Knight Ridder, Everlast Boxing, Dish Satellite and Verizon Wireless. In North Central Florida, 352 Media Group's clients include Shands Hospital, The City of Gainesville, Moltech Power Systems, The University of Florida, Exactech, TV20 and AM850.
352 Media Group recently won five local Addy Awards and one regional Addy Award for its Web sites and printed collateral. Earlier this year, 352 Media Group opened its first regional office in Atlanta, Georgia. 352 Media Group also recently diversified its services to include more traditional marketing and sales solutions.
While 352 Media Group has experienced tremendous success through its expansion efforts, Geoff has also expanded his own entrepreneurial repertoire by opening a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Scoop Shop on University Avenue in Gainesville this summer. A second Ben & Jerry's location will open at Oaks Mall in November.
CONNIE HWANG
To design is to elevate the ways of living. Through this philosophy,Connie
Hwang takes a practical yet intuitive approach to design with projects
that heighten mindfulness across time and culture. Her work exemplifies
building an emotional connection between people and the community through
effective visual expression. With an eye for quality and the desire to
reinvent, she strives towards shaping a strategic communication platform
based on vision and diligence.
Ms. Hwang received a B. F.A. in Visual Design from the University of
Oregon and earned a M.F.A. in Visual Communication Design from the
University of Washington. She has worked extensively in the area of brand
communications. Her insight and award winning design have enabled such
companies as Beringer Wine Estate, Chase H&Q, E*TRADE, and S1
Corporation to complete successful corporate and brand launches. Her work
has been featured in Black Book AR100, Communication Arts, Graphis, and
Print. Formerly Creative Director at Michael Patrick Partners, Ms. Hwang
currently runs a design studio and teaches full-time in the graphic design
program at the University of Florida.
