Random Images Used on My Homepage

These are all pictures I took with my digital camera, or in the case of a few pictures (like the Olympic pictures) I took with film and scanned in later. I have so many pictures on this list now that I've taken some out of the rotation on my homepage. I got tired of some, decided I didn't like others, and removed a few because they habitually made my Netscape window have a horizontal scrollbar. However, I plan on keeping them all here for now.

Looking out from the parking lot at the Merril Engineering Building (MEB) across the Salt Lake Valley.
Once again, the Salt Lake Valley on a hazy day.
Driving down I-80 away from Salt Lake City (whew!). This is a little further out that Park City, but before getting into Wyoming.
The view from the mall on campus looking over the valley and downtown Salt Lake.
Part of the new lightrail line which just opened up. It goes from downtown to the University.
EMCB is the building next to the building I'm in. This building and MEB (my building) are the two I spend most of my time in.
The "U" on the side of the hill, which signifies the University area. Since there are no water towers in the city, you get letters on the side of the hills marking areas of town. This is taken from one of the tennis courts on campus.
The building on the very right is my current apartment (2000-2001). This area is called the "Olympic Village," where the Olympic atheletes will stay during the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympics. You can see Salt Lake City in the background (the little lights in the valley).
Looking out towards the mountains from the golf course/tennis courts on campus.
Looking towards downtown and the capitol from the MEB parking lot.
Looking over the valley (through the trees). You can see the Salt Lake in the distance.
Looking downtown from outside MEB.
Another sunset over the SLC valley.
It gets very hazy during in the Salt Lake Valley during the winter.
Here's the giant "U" on this hillside. This time it's covered snow.
Yeah, even the clouds can look cool sometimes.
How many times does the sun set over the valley??
Sometimes it looks really ugly around here. At least it was clear over the mountains...
Looking up towards the mountains from my parking lot at home.
The sun looks really cool on hazy days. That's when most of the really cool sunsets happen.
As the sun sets on a hazy day. The sun isn't actually in this picture though.
I thought it was pretty cool when you could see the sun's reflection off of the Great Salt Lake.
Once again, the Salt Lake reflects the sun as we see a closer view of the capitol building.
Aren't these hills beginning to look familiar. At least here you can see that cool sunsets don't just happen on hazy days.
Spring is great on campus, because they have all sorts of flowering trees -- in addition to the flowers they plant (particularly near the Union... you have to walk from MEB to see the flowers).
This is Rice-Eccles Stadium, where I marched in the band for Utah football games. This is also where the opening and closing ceremonies for the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics will be held.
Looking at the stadium again, this time from across campus, through some trees.
Looking across one of the soccer fields on campus out towards the mountains.
This is my apartment building (seen in full), looking up from towards the "Heritange Center."
An old missile outside a museum at Vanderburg Air Force Base in California.
A sunset in Ojai, California.
Here's another sunset in Ojai, this time with a telescope dome in the picture.
Sunsets in Ojai are beautiful.
A tank. At an Airforce base! More proof that the people in the Airforce have no clue.
You can see the trail to Twin Peaks (outside of Ojai, CA) on the hills below. This picture was taken from the top of Twin Peaks.
Vanderburg Airforce Base is one of the alternate launch sites of the space shuttles.
This is the Ventura Pier in Ventura, California.
Aren't ski slopes supposed to have snow on them? The trip down was a bit rocky... Maybe I just need to practice skiing some more.
Here is my Dad, Mom, and brother Michael in front of downtown Salt Lake City. This is up on the Shoreline Ridge trail.
Doesn't the moon always look larger on the horizon? Here's proof that it isn't actually any bigger.
Now that's a strange sensation...
Looking out over the hills outside Happy Valley School at sunset.
Here we see people looking for my frisbee in the water hazard. I'm not any good...
What's a nice yurt like you doing up in these hills?
The dinosaurs from the 2002 Winter Olympic Game Closing Ceremonies practice during a rehearsal. Raaaar!
Overlooking the lower part of the track at the Utah Olympic Park where the Luge, Bobsled, and Skeleton events occurred.
Swoosh! A skeleton flies by the track.
The competitor rounds a corner with hundreds of spectators watching.
The Salt Lake 2002 slogan "light the fire within" decorates the side of Rice-Eccles Stadium where the Opening and Closing Ceremonies were held. This picture was taken during the Opening Ceremonies, so if you look hard enough maybe you can see some tiny, minute reflection of the Ceremony through the glass.
Looking down on downtown Salt Lake as the sun sets.
Here is the building I spend all my time in... Look at the empty parking lot! Does nobody ever work?!
Walking a short distance from the University, nice hiking trails lead up into the foothills. This is near the top of the hill behind the Olympic Village.
Rice-Eccles stadium peeks out over the hill.
The Great Salt Lake. Exciting isn't it? Not. Why do they call it "great" anyways?
This is where I live. *points at map* Have you ever seen a stone map before?
I bet you didn't know that the sun sets everywhere... Even in Salt Lake City.
This picture shows the sun reflecting off Salt Lake as it sets.
Hey. I have a camera. With free "film". Are you complaining that I take 3000 pictures of the sun setting??
I'm following this trail to run away from it all. I bet they'll never think to look up here...
Mountains are so much more exciting to take pictures of than rolling corn fields. And they look ever so much more interesting when the sun sets.
A beach in southern California.
This is the top of the British Parliament building at sunset, as seen from across the Thames.
Here I am standing in front of Buckingham Palace while visiting London during my trip to Europe during the summer of 2003.
Me in front of the Musee D'Orsay in Paris. Here, I'm standing on a bridge over the Seine.
I'm pretending to be a druid here, waiting for my turn to lead a mystical ceremony at Stonehenge in England.
Southern Utah is really cool in the mornings and evenings when all the red rocks turn vibrant red colors. This picture is from Arches National Park.
Arches National Park after the sun has set a bit
It's a bit of a hike... But someone has to do it. Next gas station is on the other side.
This is Turret Arch in Arches National Park in southern Utah.
This is the University of Utah Pep Band which travelled to the first round of the Men's NCAA basketball tournament in Milwaukee, WI in 2004.
A closer look at me playing during the 2004 NCAA basketball tournament.
Here's another image I found of me playing my solo during Summon the Heroes during the 2002 Winter Olympics. This is up on Main Street in Park City.
