Cool Images I've Taken

So, as some of you may have figured out by my web page, I like taking pictures, and enjoy the challenge of trying to compose a picture that will be pleasantly appealing. I've been "practicing" this hobby of mine for numerous years now, but since I got a digital camera a year ago, it's become a lot easier (and cheaper) to try to get good pictures. Below are some of favorite pictures that don't really fit into any of the other categories I have on my webpage.

Snowstorm on Christmas Day 2003

We got a bit of a white Christmas in Salt Lake City for 2003. Started raining Christmas Eve, and by 6 or 7pm on Christmas, we were getting snow. Turned out that it didn't stop for 3 days. Below are some pictures I took around my apartment during the storm.

Above: The stoplight outside my apartment at 1100 E and 500
S. Right: Looking down 1100 E, around 700 S. Notice the tree
covering 2/3 of the street half a block down.

Above: About 18 inches of snow on top of your car. What a
Christmas present! Right: Looking down 4th South was fun.
Watching cars andand trains and the sledding down the
road...

Above: You can tell they're going to have fun digging out the
car. Right: Almost right outside my apartment. Notice on the
left the car(s) double parked... And they
still have a couple feet
of snow between them and the roadway.

Now this is just a cool looking tree. I must say I saw flashes
from my window caused by electricity arcing between power
lines and snow-coveredtrees.

On Campus, Around MEB

MEB is the building my desk is in at school. Here's some pictures I've taken around the building. I love the view from up here. Specially since every day, it's different.

Olympic Village

I used to in University housing "on" campus here in Utah. The area was called the "Olympic Village" because the Olympic atheletes will lived there after I did, during the 2002 Winter Games. The best part about the apartments was that they were new and they look right out at the mountains. Below are a couple of pictures from the parking lot outside my building, and the one with the snow is a picture looking (literally) out my bedroom window.

Fourth of July

I've always wanted to get some good pictures of fireworks. Since I don't have a tripod (or often have a chance), I didn't think it would ever happen, but this past year with my digital camera, I got about 50 of them (ranging from horribly blurry to almost perfect). Here's a few of the better ones.

Truely Miscellaneous

These don't really fit any broad category.

This is me wearing my Utah Marching
Band hat:

This was from a geology trip to South
Dakota as an undergraduate. You're
