LONG BEACH, California (Ticker) -- Richard Park had two goals and an assist and Jarrod Skalde collected four assists to lead the Utah Grizzlies to a 7-5 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Park broke a 4-4 tie with his first goal 22 seconds into the second period and added another tally six minutes later. Skalde assisted Sean Tallaire in the opening period and set up three goals in the middle frame as Utah rallied for five straight points in 20 minutes. Jeff Sharples contributed a shorthanded, unassisted goal with 13 seconds left in the first for the Grizzlies, who opened their season with a victory. Pavel Rosa registered a shorthanded goal almost six minutes into the first period for Long Beach and Dmitri Leonov scored less than a minute later. Dieter Kalt closed out the scoring for the Ice Dogs with just over four minutes left in the second.
