MRI KNEE, 8/4/99.
TECHNIQUE: The following sequences were obtained:
1. Axial fast spin echo proton density images.
2. Sagittal proton density and T2 weighted images.
3. Coronal T1 weighted images and fast spin echo T2
weighted images with fat saturation.
FINDINGS: The anterior cruciate ligament is thin, and abnormal
in course, with an abrupt angulation in its distal portion,
consistent with old, healed tear. The posterior cruciate ligament
is intact. There is attenuation of the mid zone of the medial
meniscus, consistent with fibrillation and degeneration of the
meniscal free margin.
The collateral ligaments are intact. There is no evidence of
bone bruising.
IMPRESSION:
OLD, HEALED OR PARTIALLY HEALED TEAR OF THE ANTERIOR CRUCIATE
LIGAMENT.
FIBRILLATION AND DEGENERATION OF FREE MARGIN OF MID ZONE OF
THE MEDIAL MENISCUS.
POSTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT IS INTACT. COLLATERAL LIGAMENTS ARE
INTACT.
