MRI KNEE, 8/4/99.

TECHNIQUE: The following sequences were obtained:
1. Axial fast spin echo proton density images.
2. Sagital proton density and T2 weighted images.
3. Coronal T1 weighted images.
4. Coronal fast spin echo T2 weighted images with fat saturation.

FINDINGS: The mid portion of the anterior cruciate ligament has a
slight "kink". Fibers appear intact through this area. This finding
is consistent with an old tear with overlap seen of the margin of
the torn end of the ligament and partial healing. The posterior
cruciate ligament is intact.

There is a complex tear of the posterior horn of the medial
meniscus. The tear extends both to the superior and inferior
articular surfaces.

There is no evidence of a joint effusion.

IMPRESSION:

OLD TEAR OF ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT WITH PARTIAL HEALING.

COMPLEX TEAR OF POSTERIOR HORN OF THE MEDIAL MENISCUS.
