Trying to “fly” the MPI Kuka
I am sitting in the
Kuka robot in CYBERNEUM at the
Max Planck
Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany.
The
robot is set up for a 1-D
(roll only) helicopter simulation, in which the object is to
maintain a particular lateral position. Accurate flight dynamics
are supported. A short video is available showing me
failing at this task. Aother video starts with a self-assesement
of how well I am doing.
At the end of the self-assesment video clip, there is a claim that I
would be much better if I returned at a later time without any
intervening practice. I in fact tried out the system two days
later and was much
better. As you might expect, there are no videos documenting this
improved performance.
