How big is Salt Lake City?
Salt Lake City is much bigger than most people think.  Roughly 1 million people live in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area!

What is the quality of life in Salt Lake City?
Salt Lake City has low crime and unemployment rates, and a relatively low cost-of-living compared to other big cities.

What is the weather like in Salt Lake City?
Utah has an extraordinary number of sunny days. Summers are warm and dry, while spring and fall are temperate. Winters are generally mild but with ample snowfall.   Stats:

How far away are the mountains?
Salt Lake City is situated right up against the Wasatch mountains. It is only a 30 minute drive from Salt Lake City to some of the finest ski resorts in the country. The mountains also provide ideal terrain for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and other types of outdoor recreation. The Oquirrh and Uinta mountain ranges are also within an hour's drive from Salt Lake City.

Is there anything within a day's drive of Salt Lake City?
No. Just kidding! There are 10 National Parks within an 8-hour drive of Salt Lake City: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Great Basin, Mesa Verde, Yellowstone, and Zion. There are also numerous National Monuments, State Parks, and other public lands of extraordinary beauty. In Southern Utah, the Moab area is often rated the best place for mountain biking in the world and Cedar City hosts the renowned Utah Shakesperean Festival every year. Denver and Las Vegas are also within a day's drive of Salt Lake.

Is it true that Salt Lake City is hosting the 2002 Olympics?
Yes. The 2002 Winter Olympic venues will be in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Park City, and nearby ski resorts. The Olympic Village and opening and closing ceremonies will be at the University of Utah.

Is it true that everyone in Salt Lake City is Mormon?
No. Salt Lake City is the administrative center of the LDS (Mormon) Church and home to the world-famous Salt Lake Temple, but less than half of the Salt Lake population belongs to the LDS faith. Salt Lake City is also home to many other churches, mosques, and synagogues.

Are there any cultural activities in Salt Lake City?
Yes! Salt Lake City is home to the Utah Symphony, Utah Opera, Ballet West, Pioneer Memorial Theatre, Hogle Zoo, and Tracy Aviary. For film buffs, the Sundance Film Festival is held every January in Salt Lake City and nearby Park City. Salt Lake City also hosts many professional sports teams, such as the Utah Jazz (men's basketball), Utah Starzz (women's basketball), Utah Grizzlies (ice hockey), and Salt Lake Buzz (AAA baseball).

Is the city wired?
Yes.  A high proportion of Utah's households have computers relative to the national average, the state was the first to implement digital signatures, and the Salt Lake City area has about 1000 high-tech companies.
