EXPERIENCE / APPLICATIONS:
Project: Elevator Human Interface Design
Language / Environment: Visual Basic/Serial Connectivity using RS-232
Time: July 2006 – April 2007
Supervisor: Mr. Vivek Chitaley, R&D Manager, Otis Elevators, Mumbai
Project: Online Music Catalog
Language / Environment: HTML/CSS/ASP
Time: August 2006 – October 2006
Supervisor: Mr. Vaibhav Kala, Lecturer, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai
-
Description
Applied software engineering principles to create an online music store. First, the appropriate model was chosen. Then, requirements analysis and design using UML notation were carried out. Finally, the code was developed and tested to see whether it matched the initial requirements, thus completing the software development cycle. Users were allowed to serially browse by genre/artist or search their way through, following which, they would proceed to checkout or choose another item.
Project: Torrents Website
Language / Environment: HTML/CSS/ASP
Time: March 2006 – May 2006
Supervisor: Mrs. Bidisha Roy, Head of Dept—Computers, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai
-
Description
Based on the popular filesharing approach, this website created new user profiles and then authenticated logins to access the website’s database of torrents. The torrents were classified into broad categories such as ‘Music’, ‘Games’, etc. and also, the most recent torrents were always displayed on the home page for easy access.
Project: Time Display
Language / Environment: C
Time: March 2006 – May 2006
Supervisor: Ms. Hemangi Patil, Lecturer, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai
-
Description
This graphics project was an elementary introduction to the capabilities of computer graphics using only C. The input consisted of the format and value of the time, together with the desired colors of the hands and face of the clock. Using the input values, the code made use of C’s graphics library to generate a graphical simulation of a clock. Any changes the user wished to make could also be accommodated.
Project: Asteroid Invaders
Language / Environment: Java
Time: August 2005 – October 2005
Supervisor: Mrs. Vedavati Bali, Lecturer, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai
-
Description
The object-oriented Java language was used for the development of this game-project. The player commands a spaceship that must eliminate all asteroids in its path by firing its primary weapon. The spaceship has ammunition and health that diminishes every time the weapon is fired or it collides with an asteroid respectively, and increases with every ‘n’ units of time. The score is simply a counter that stops and displays its final value when the player has exhausted his spaceship’s health.
Project: Automobile Showroom
Language / Environment: Visual Basic/SQL
Time: March 2005 – April 2005
Supervisor: Mrs. Chitra Dhamnaskar, Lecturer, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai
-
Description
This project was developed in Visual Basic, to demonstrate its connectivity potential with databases such as SQL. Users were able to identify themselves against a database and then view information about a vehicle they wished to purchase. If they confirmed the order, the corresponding receipt containing all relevant information (vehicle type, date of purchase, etc) was displayed on the screen.
