Assignment 1
Due: 9:10am, at the start of class, Thu Sept 7th, 2006
Note: Make reasonable assumptions where necessary and clearly state them.
Each of the 8 problems is worth an equal number of points.
Feel free to discuss problems with classmates, but the only written material
that you may consult while writing your solutions are the textbook
and lecture slides.
You may hand in solutions on paper at the start of class. You may also hand in
homeworks electronically on one of the CADE Lab machines. Place your solution
in a text file called "homework1" and use the following command:
handin cs3810 hw1 homework1
- Task 1: Subscribe to the email list cs3810. Visit the mailman system to sign up or modify.
- Task 2: Email the TA (devyani at cs) to receive an integer that will be
used as your identifier for the rest of the class. This identifer will enable you
to look up your individual grades.
- Problem 1.51 from the end of Chapter 1. Replace the last line of the problem
with the following lines: "At what price must the company sell each chip to break
even? The answer may be a function of the total number of chips sold."
- Problems 1.52 and 1.54 from Chapter 1.
- Problems 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 2.29, and 2.30 from Chapter 2. For 2.29, you can replace the statement "sub $a1, $a1, 1" with the statement "addi $a1, $a1, -1".
