Who is this guy?

I am a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Utah, my research advisor is Ellen Riloff and I am a member of the Natural Language Processing research group. Originally from the state of Kentucky, I attended Morehead State University where I received a bachelor's in Computer Science.
My work is on automatic coreference resolution, but also includes development of Reconcile, which is a joint effort between Cornell, Utah and Lawrence-Livermore National Labs to create an extensible system for identifying coreferent textual entities.
Knowledge rich and domain specific approaches to coreference resolution are the main focuses of my research, with text summarization and understanding are other areas of interest.

Time flies!

Another year has come, and I'm way behind in blogging. One month into 2012 and things are looking good for the reminder of the year. Lot's of research and writing, proposing, and more coming down the pipe. I hope this year is a good one for you too.

First post

Welcome to my website, newly renovated for the first time in years. There is even a blog, which is something I've never been into as my quiet twitter account can attest to, but which I'm interested in trying out. I'm writing the backend for this blog myself and it is not complete yet, but this will be a place for me to spout my current musings on NLP research and extol the virtues of vinyl records. Comments probably will be not be available in the future either. It's just not something I want to mess with at the moment. More to come soon.
