Student Poster Contest - Judging Criteria

How the contest works:

Every student or student group that presents at Engineering Day is eligible to enter the Student Poster Contest. It works a lot like a typical science fair: faculty judges will come see your presentation between 10am and 1pm, and give it a score. Each judge will assign scores for one of our five criteria listed below.

Judging Criteria:

1. Orginality & Creativity (up to 20 pts)
How original is the problem, and how creative is your solution?
2. Depth of Research (up to 20 pts)
How well did the students research the area? How much did they learn in order to solve the problem?
3. Presentation Quality (up to 20pts)
How nice does their presentation look? How well does it showcase their work?
4. Impact on Society (up to 20pts)
Will this project change the world? How many people will be impacted by this project?
5. Cool Factor (up to 20pts)
How much does this project appeal to our fellow engineers?

To determine overall winners, the five scores for each presentation will be added together, making a total of 100 points possible.

Awards and Prizes:

For the top three presentations at Engineering Day:

The presentation that was rated highest in each category will receive a $20 gift certificate to places like the Bookstore, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics, or Media Play. Each presentation will receive no more than one of the eight prizes.

This information is correct to the best of our knowledge, but may change due to unforseen circumstances. Actual prizes may differ from those listed here.
