Ph.D. CANDIDATE developing new methods for
improving visualization by adding qualitative information. This work
focuses on translating the semantic meaning of statistical measures
of uncertainty, error, and confidence levels into visual metaphors
and incorporating this information into traditional visualization
techniques. Application areas include medical visualization, climate
modeling, and seismic data analysis. Other research interests
include scientific and information visualization, and general
graphics including non-photorealistic rendering.

Experience:
Research Assistant, January 2008 - present
Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, University of Utah
Researching techniques for incorporating uncertainty, error,
and confidence information into pre-existing visualization techniques.
This work investigates both 2D and 3D datasets through traditional
graphical display methods such as the boxplot for 2D and volume
rendering for 3D. Responsibilities include examining existing methods
and gathering background research, writing code that integrates
multiple libraries, and writing research papers. Also pursuing
collaborative projects in memory trace visualization, and
non-photorealistic rendering.
Research Assistant, August 2000 - December 2007
University of Utah, School of Computing
Geometric Design and Computation Research Group (GDC)
Explored non-photorealistic and haptic rendering techniques.
Teaching Assistant, 2001-2005
University of Utah, School
of Computing
Introduction to Computer Graphics, Human Computer
Interaction.
Gave lectures, lead class discussions, assisted in
curriculum organization and development, grading, and tutoring of
students.
