Ahh. Finally, I get to talk about my stuff.
Two summers ago I worked with the visualization group at the Advanced
Computing Laboratory at LANL. We built a large scale parallel volume
renderer which used graphics hardware to render sub volumes, and software,
or processors, for compositing. We were able to visualize a 1024 cubed volume
at at least five frames per second. Of course, this was on a multi-million
dollar super computer. Recently there has been a great deal of interest in
commodity, cluster based visualization applications.
