To summarize the problem:
Visualization on modern graphics hardware won't necessarily be a walk in the
park. But, don't be so quick to blame the graphics card. You are developing
on PCs now. And they definitely weren't designed with us in mind. We need
better bus standards which can scale to meet our needs. We need better
machine to machine interconnects. I believe that another bottleneck in
large scale visualization is in the compositing, and effort should be put
into fixing that.
My argument here is that this is a parallel computing problem. These have
always been issues. And these issues are really outside the scope of this
panel.
I was hopping to stir some debate here.
