I successfully defended my thesis Efficient Summarization Techniques for Massive Data on 30 July 2013 at the School of Computing at the University of Utah. I am actively seeking positions as a Research Engineer, Software Developer, Data Analyst, and Cluster Administrator.

Research Interests

Summarizing massive data in distributed and parallel frameworks; ranking, monitoring, and tracking big data; scalable query processing in large databases; uncertainties and fuzzy string and textual data.

Biography

Jeffrey Jestes graduated from N.B. Forrest High School, with honors as valedictorian, in Jacksonville, FL in 2004. He received the B.S. degree in computer science, with honors as Summa Cum Laude, from Florida State University in 2008. He was a PhD student in the Computer Science Department, Florida State University between August 2008 and July 2011. He successfully defended his PhD thesis in the School of Computing at the University of Utah in July 2013. The Graduate School at the University of Utah is expected to officially confer the degree of PhD in Computing in December 2013. He has interned twice with Microsoft Research in the eXtreme Computing Group during his PhD, studying solutions to problems in massive data and cloud computing. His current research interests include summarizing massive data in distributed and parallel frameworks; ranking, monitoring, and tracking big data; scalable query processing in large databases.
