In the summer, Alta is opened to hikers.
One of the easiest trails leads to Cecret lake, but this
trail is surprisingly steep near the end and devoid of shade
throughout. The day that I came, it was around 100 degrees in the
valley, and pretty warm up here. The trail to Cecret lake was teeming
with people.
Moving away from this trail and towards the shade, I found
evidence of a kindred spirit: someone who realizes that nature is best
appreciated from a chairlift.
For reasons I can't imagine, I never saw anyone else walk
through this little stand of trees.
