The keyswitch prevents unwanted "playing" with the train set. The switches that source the rail blocks (1-9) are A/off/B SPDT units that select cab A or cab B to power that rail, or to turn it off. SPST switches used to energize the turnouts are miniature, momentary pushbuttons. I use Molex connectors to connect the control panel to the layout; these make servicing, or removal of the unit for any other reason, a breeze.
