And here the user is just using a simple tent function as the boundary
emphasis function, and here, is the semi-automatically generated
opacity function, which has two main peaks. Here's the rendering
which uses that opacity function, and you can see that the boundary
between air and skin has been detected and rendered well. I think
one important aspect of this whole technique is that the opacity
functions generated are sensible enough that they can be edited
by hand if necessary. So here the user has removed the first peak
in the opacity function, and from the resulting rendering, you can
see that the boundary between soft tissue and bone was also detected
and rendered well.
