The user can also control the shape of the peaks in the opacity
function. Here the user wanted to make the boundaries more opaque, so
the peak in b(x) is higher, and the resulting peaks in the opacity
function are higher, and sure enough, the rendered boundaries got more
opaque. Here, the user wanted the boundaries to be a lot sharper, so
boundary emphasis function has sharp edges, and the resulting opacity
function is more discontinuous, and the resulting rendered edges are
indeed sharper. So, the big question: does this work on real datasets.
