Slide 24 of 42

Now lets try it on some real CT datasets. Here's the turbine blade from GE, in cross-section. There's basically two materials- air, metal- and one boundary in between. And in the scatterplots, there's basically one curve. Here's that famous engine block, and notice that like the second synthetic volume on the previous slide, there are really three boundaries here- black to gray, gray to white, and here, on the inside of this tube, white to black. And, in the scatterplots, you can clearly see the curves from black to gray, and gray to white, and, if you squint just right, you can see the curve from white back down to black.
