In answer to the first question, I would say yes, it is sufficient
to take measurements at only the original voxels, and I'll motivate
that with some pictures. Here, again, we're sampling this boundary
continuously to produce the same smooth parametric plots which we
saw before. Here, instead of contuously sampling, we're discretely
sampling along the same path, so here, instead of the smooth parametric
plots, we have these scatterplots, but still, the same curves are
being traced out.
