I also want to make a quick note of the boundary model which we
assume. We assume that measured boundaries can be modelled as
a step function blurred by a Gaussian, to produce this smoothed
out step function. The Gaussian blurring approximates the
bandlimiting inherent in the measurement process. We also assume
that the blurring is isotropic.
