The Research Infrastructure Program

The University of Utah is in the process of creating a Modeling and Simulation Support Facility to aid in modeling complex physical and computational environments.

This will require:

My current focus is on implementing the high-bandwidth, low-latency communications on SGI systems. We have chosen Myrinet, a 1.28 Gb/s LAN manufactured by Myricom. Myrinet interconnects hosts via n-way routed crossbar switches and uses programmable, DMA capable interfaces.

We have completed myrinet IP drivers for use on IRIX 6.4 systems. A group at the University of Bonn has completed similar drivers, and has also ported MPI and BullDog. (Their performance numbers).
