GRAPHICS 6610 (HONORS) FINAL PROJECT

The main topic of my final project is particle systems.  I use these particle systems to imitate the behavior of fire and water.  To do this, I create a ring of fire and a fountain of water.  I put a pool of water with a strong current at the bottom of the fountain.

This fire is created with a particle system.  The glui provides an option to let the fire burn out and to be relit.  The above fire is about half way burnt out.

This is the fire when it is first lit.  Each flame consists of 2000 texture-mapped particles.

This is a ring of fire that has been billboarded so the fire looks like fire from all of the viewing directions.

In the above picture, the current of the water is carrying the boat.  When the boat hits the edge of the water pool, it bounces back.  Water shoots up from the pool in four places.  The initial velocity of the water is constant and decreases only right before the fountain dies down.
