CS Major Application
CS Minor Application
Pre- and full-major status
Students begin our program as a computer science pre-major, take the necessary introductory classes, and then apply for full major status. This is a three step process:
1) First, you need to be admitted to the University of Utah.
2) Once admitted, any student can become a computer science pre-major by informing the University Registrar or the School of Computing academic advisor. It is advisable to do this early to ensure receiving information about the major and staying advised of any changes that may be made in degree requirements.
3) In order to become a full major in computer science, a student must first complete the required pre-major courses below, and then apply for a full major status. See below for more information about the application process.
The following pre-major classes are required in order to apply to full major status for fall 2013:

The computer science minor
Any University of Utah student with a declared major other than computer science or computer engineering can apply for a computer science minor, once they have taken the specified pre-minor courses.
Application process
A student may apply to full major status in the computer science major by submitting an online application. New majors are admitted for fall semesters only. Applications are accepted after spring and summer semesters, for a fall start into the major, and may be found on this web page. Please plan to apply after the semester (spring or summer) in which you will complete the pre-major requirements.
Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Final grades and GPA in pre-major classes is required before applying.
