Track 4: Genome Informatics

There are compelling reasons for geneticists and computer scientists to join forces in attacking problems spanning their fields. For geneticists, the motivations are more powerful and insightful tools for performing genomic investigations, collecting and interpreting data, and achieving scientific results. For computer scientists, the motivations are significant scale and societally important application problems that inspire and validate new conceptual foundations, computational paradigms, and system building methodologies.

Sample research areas: Databases for genomic research; scientific computing and visualization; distributed computing; knowledge-based information management.

Host departments: Computer Science; Human Genetics.
