This track focuses on the development of DNA sequencing technology and its application to biological questions of importance. Research projects in this area exploit innovative genomic approaches for biology-driven experiments. Students will develop strong experimental biology skills and, by exposure to the technology development aspects of the program, will transfer technology directly into novel genomic research projects.
Sample research areas: Genomic sequencing; sequence comparison and mutation detection; laboratory automation and protocol development.
