School of Computing Scholarships

The School of Computing awards several scholarships each year. Recipients are selected based
upon academic performance, rather than financial need. Most are awarded to Computer Science
and Computer Engineering full majors, or to those students who will become full majors during
the following academic year.
The deadline for the 2009-10 scholarship applications is March 2, 2009.

School of Computing Tution WaviersThese awards are available to students majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering who are residents of the state of Utah. They
cover up to 18 credit hours of resident tuition for two semesters. To be eligible, students must take at least 12 credit hours per semester.
Dave Hanscom Scholarship Donated by funds from alumni and others provided to recognize Dave Hanscom's accomplishments and carry on his legacy of support for School of Computing . The scholarship supports outstanding computer science undergraduates.
The Howard and Joan de St. Germain Scholarship
The Howard and Joan de St. Germain scholarship was endowed by Joan de St. Germain in honor of her husband Howard James de St. Germain. Howard was a true computer scientist, from the time before computer science, or at least from when they called it math (or computational math). Howard worked at White Sands Missile Range for the Army's Training and Doctrine command. There he worked on computer programs geared toward military simulation, analysis, and training. Howard also help found a computer game company: Innovative Design Software. IDSI created one of the world first computer pool games.
The Kiri L. Wagstaff AI/ML ScholarshipDonated by funds from Kiri Wagstaff. Student is selected by the Artificial Intelligence faculty in the School of Computing on the basis of GPA, a focus on AI or Machine Learning, and financial need.
School of Computing Faculty Scholarship Donated by funds from School of Computing faculty. Provided to outstanding undergraduate student or students. Amounts generally range from $500 to $2000 per award.
School of Computing Women's Scholarship Donated by funds from an anonymous donor. Provided to outstanding female undergraduate student or students. Amounts generally range from $500 to $1000 per award.
First Security ScholarshipDonated by funds from the Eccles Family. Provided to outstanding undergraduate student, in the amount of $4000.
