IPers might be interested in a workshop on R&D Opportunities in Federal Information Systems. It's being sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council, and coordinated by USC's Information Sciences Institute. The workshop is scheduled for May 13-15, with white papers due March 3, 1997. The workshop is "intended to address a concern regarding high level disconnect of the information services (IS) field from the information technologies R&D world, a disconnect which is cultural, educational and technological."
