Associate Professor, School of Computing
Ph.D., SUNY Stonybrook, 1996
Professor Silva joined the faculty in 2003. His main
research interests are in graphics, visualization, applied computational
geometry, and high-performance computing. His current research focuses on
architectures and algorithms for building scalable displays, rendering
techniques for large datasets, 3D scanning, and algorithms for graphics
hardware, and includes recent work on 3D compression and multi-resolution
techniques for point-sets and polygonal surfaces, large-scale 3D
photography, visibility culling and volume rendering.
