The Department of Computer Science offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The latter degree is jointly administered by the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Departments.
The B.S. in Computer Science is a software-oriented degree whose requirements include 23 courses from the Department. A student must be admitted as a major by the Department in order to take upper-division courses and pursue the Computer Science degree.
The B.S. in Computer Engineering is a more hardware-oriented degree whose requirements include 8 courses offered by Computer Science, 7 courses offered by Electrical Engineering, and 11 courses offered by both departments. A student must be admitted as a major by either Computer Science or Electrical Engineering in order to take upper-division courses and pursue the Computer Engineering degree.
The Department also offers a minor in Computer Science consisting of eight courses from the Department. Students from the College of Education can use this minor as part of their teaching minor.
