Evans & Sutherland Distinguished Lecture Series Computer Graphics: Where Do We Come From? Donald P. Greenberg Cornell University Host: Pete Shirley Abstract This pictorial lecture describes the historic trends of various performance characteristics of today's electronic infrastructure. Emphasis is placed on the exponential growth rates, particularly in the computer graphics industry. The author questions whether current research is addressing the right problems and whether we are sufficiently considering the technological environments of the future. The presentation is heavily supplemented with graphic illustrations.
