As the second highest mountain along the Wasatch
Mt. Timpanogos is 3582 meters high. It is found east of
Orem and Provo, Utah. A hike to the peak from the major
trail heads has 1450-1500 meter' of elevation gain and may
take an experienced hiker 10-11 hors round trip. Mt.
Timpanogos is said to have the shape of a sleeping Indian
maiden. There are also Series of beutiful undergraound
caves that are found on the north west slope of the mountain.
The name Timpanogos may have been derived from the Paiute
word for "river of rock" others say it is the name of a
legendary Indian maiden.
