Work Responsibilities:

My main responsibility for the Department of Computer Science is to
handle the undergraduate advising for the computer science and computer
engineering degree programs.

This includes:
  • Advising prospective students of the degree requirements
  • Assisting with transfer credits
  • Maintaining undergraduate student records
  • Registering students for classes
  • Assisting with undergraduate scholarships, handling university and departmental policies regarding the undergraduate degree programs
  • Arranging appointments with the faculty advisor
Office hours:  8 am to 5 pm
(I usually take lunch from 1-2 pm) Walk-in appointments are welcome, or if you'd like to make an appointment, you may call me at 581-8224 and we'll set up an
    appointment.

Some of my departmental responsibilities include scheduling for the department and handling textbook orders.  I also assist Dr. Dave Hanscom with the annual summer High School Computing Institute (HSCI),  a 5-week program for outstanding sophomore and junior high school students from across the state of Utah.  The Institute gives these students a chance to get a
"behind the scenes" look at some tools on the leading edge of computer technology. For more information on the HSCI:  http://www.eng.utah.edu/outreach/hsci.

Personal:

I've been working in the Department of Computer Science since July of 1998, but have been working on the University of Utah campus almost 22 years in a variety of positions.  I really enjoy working at the U, and I love working in the computer science department.  The faculty, staff, and students are so friendly and are some of the best people I've worked with in my many years at the U.  I'm so happy to be a part of this team.  Also, I graduated from the University of Utah with my bachelor's
degree in psychology in 1985.  I have a 20-month old son named JT--the light of my life.  Every day is a new, growing, learning experience with a child around.  I grew up in Salt Lake and recently purchased the house that I was raised in.  It's a
neat old home in the Westminster College area. Also, I own some property close to Capitol Reef, and I hope to build on it and maybe retire there some day.  I love to travel, go camping and fishing, garden, do crafty things, and spend time playing with JT.  I enjoy life every chance I get.  And, by the way, I hate the snow!
